Encaustics

Untitled

From her young age, Joh suehyun (Pepper Risk) developed interest in making art. Born in Daegoo, Korea, she studied Korean literature in Koryo University. She also had years of training in 2-D design, drawing, sumi, and Korean traditional Buddhist temple painting under renowned private art instructors in Korea.
After moving to America, she studied oil painting, printmaking, ceramics, and metal works at North Seattle Community College.
Recently encaustics (Ancient Greek way of painting in wax) captured her enthusiasm in expanding her skills and vocabulary in making art. She always seeks paths to synthesize the Buddhist images in western medium and technique.
